Curious vowel,

Pluto, join Rudolf.

WHY, FACETIOUS?  WHY, ABSTEMIOUS?

(VOWEL PARTIES SANS ONE)

I feel sorry for the semivowel status of Y, that “sometimes vowel.” As the most inquisitive letter, questioning the ontological value of everything, it’s undervalued. And as every small child knows, why is much better than who, what, where or how for getting adults to jabber.

Other trivia:

Y is also the Roman numeral for 150.

Facetious and abstemious are the only two words (I know) with the regular five vowels appearing once each alphabetically.

While Y is the most inquisitive letter, the letter I is the most egocentric.
